If you want to be a part of the organization, but marching is not an option, we have the solution. Be a part of Banner Brass.
The Reading Buccaneers are excited to announce that its small ensemble called Banner Brass is taking a new role in the organization. We plan to have Banner Brass involved in drum corps and community events throughout the year. In order to achieve this goal, we are now actively recruiting members outside of the competitive corps.
The unit will be managed by Mr. Ken Kemmerer. Ken has taught instrumental music in the Muhlenberg School District for 32 years. He is an active performer on trombone and tuba in central PA area, regularly performing with the Reading Pops Orchestra, the Lancaster British Brass Band, the Last Big Band, Basic’ly Brass, Jesse’s Hot Jazz, and anyone else who calls. Ken marched in the Buccaneers for 5 seasons between 1978 and 1984 and was assistant brass instructor in 1985. He is anxious to work with fellow Buccaneers to continue the evolution of this ensemble under the Buccaneer “Banner”.
The first rehearsal for the new Banner Brass will be Sunday, March 11, at 1:00 PM at Twin Valley High School. Subsequent rehearsal dates will be announced soon.
