2025 Brass Staff
Returning for his 3rd Season as Brass Caption Head in 2024, Michael Tanzos has been involved with Drum Corps for the past 14 years. Starting out as a member of Reading Buccaneers in 2009, Michael went on to march in the Cadets in 2010 & 2011, winning a DCI World Championship. After his marching career, he went on to teach brass at Bushwackers, Cadets2, and the Reading Buccaneers. Michael is currently the Instrumental Director at Whitehall High School. He graduated from Nazareth High School and earned his Music Education degree from Kutztown University.

Brand is a skilled trumpet teacher, working with many great programs across central and southeast Pennsylvania. He received a bachelor’s degree in Music Performance at West Chester University, actively playing in the greater Philadelphia Region. He began his drum corps career with the Hawthorne Caballeros, marching there for the 2009-2012 seasons and as a soloist from 2015-2018. the 2013 and 2014 seasons with the Cadets, where he played lead trumpet, and aged out as a soloist in 2014. Bringing over a decade in marching experience to the table, Brand is excited for another year of drum corps!

Daniel returns for his 7th season on The Buccaneers staff as mello music instructor. He began his drum corps career with the Buccaneers in 2013 as a tuba player and has since become a regular member of the brass educational team. He is a public school teacher in Southeast Pennsylvania most recently as an orchestra teacher in the North Penn School District. Daniel’s educational work with drum corps includes Cadets2 (2017) and The Reading Buccaneers (2018-2024). Daniel graduated from Daniel Boone High School and earned his Music Education degree from West Chester University. When not teaching, Daniel enjoys playing tuba with the Red Hill Community Band. He looks forward to The Buccaneers returning to the field as we prepare for the 2025 season.

Chris Liounis - Tuba Music Technician
Chris Liounis is excited to be returning to the Buccaneers for his fifth season and third as the sole music tech for the tuba section. He is a graduate of West Chester University of Pennsylvania with a B.M. in Music Performance, and of Temple University where he earned a M.M. in Music Performance and was a graduate assistant with the Temple University Diamond Band. He was a private student of Dr. Jonathan Fowler and Mr. Jay Krush and has participated in master classes with professional tubists from around the world including Roger Bobo, Chris Olka, Scott Mendoker, and Carol Jantsch. He is currently the Repair Administrator for Zeswitz Music in Reading, Pennsylvania along with being an active educator and performer in the area. Chris has taught multiple local high school programs including time spent as the assistant marching band director at both Daniel Boone High School and Pottstown High School. He is an active brass clinician and performs with multiple local and professional ensembles. He is excited to share his love of music and pedagogical knowledge with the 2025 Reading Buccaneers and can’t wait to see what the members are able to accomplish this year.
Jackson is excited to get his start teaching drum corps with the Reading Buccaneers. Jackson was a member of the Buccaneers from 2015 - 2018, and a member of the Santa Clara Vanguard from 2019 - 2021. From there he took a brief hiatus before returning to the Buccaneers to march in 2024.
Jackson graduated from the West Chester University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education. After spending the first four years of his career teaching elementary music, Jackson is now the Director of Bands at Pottstown High School in Pottstown, PA. He has also spent the last six years as a field tech at various high school marching bands in the Mid-Atlantic region, most recently at Boyertown Area High School in Boyertown, PA.

Kevin Sheetz - Trombone/Baritone Music Technician
Kevin Scheetz is a music educator and performer located in south central Pennsylvania. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from West Chester University of Pennsylvania in 2021, studying trombone under Dr. Daniel Cherry. While attending West Chester University, he participated in the Incomparable Golden Rams Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Concert Choir, Trombone Choir, Criterions Jazz Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, as well as other various performing groups. He was a winner of the Sophomore Solo Competition and was a winner of the Wind Symphony Concerto Competition, in which he performed with the West Chester University Wind Symphony. In the professional setting, Kevin has played trombone for the Newark Symphony Orchestra in Newark, Delaware. He has also performed with numerous pit orchestras in the York, Lancaster, and Chester County areas.
Kevin started his marching career at Red Lion Area Senior High School (2013-2016) and continued into the collegiate level. He marched one season with the West Virginia University Mountaineer Marching Band (2017) and marched two seasons with the Incomparable Golden Rams Marching Band (2018-2019), where he was featured as a soloist and a student director. Kevin marched two years with the Reading Buccaneers (2019, 2023) and was a featured trombone soloist both years.
Currently, Kevin serves as the orchestra director for the Red Lion Area Junior High School and Senior High School and instructs their marching band as the visual coordinator. He also served as the Red Lion Area Senior High School’s Musical Director for two years. Kevin enjoys rooting for the Phillies, playing golf, reading, and practicing in his free time. He is extremely grateful and excited for the opportunity to instruct the Reading Buccaneers this season!
Jacob is looking forward to returning for his third year with the Buccaneers, as well as his first year on staff! Jacob marched with the Buccaneers in 2018 and 2022 on trumpet. He also toured with the Bluecoats in 2022 and 2023 on trumpet and flugelhorn. Outside of drum corps, Jacob is finishing his undergraduate degrees in Physics, Astronomy, and Music Performance at the University of Maryland, College Park while doing part-time research with Space Dynamics Laboratory (Albuquerque, NM).
