Lou Zanine

Lou Zanine is returning for his 19th year with the Reading Buccaneers, his 11th year with the Visual Staff. Lou started his Drum Corps career in 1980 with the Crossmen and was associated with the Concord Blue Devils, New York Skyliners, and the Westshoremen before landing with Buccaneers. 

 

Lou graduated from West Chester University with a degree in Music Education and has spent many years as both an adjudicator and instructor. He currently an NJA Visual Adjudicator with the TOB/TIA circuit and is also in his 14th year as an instructor with the Wilson High School marching band. Lou currently resides in the Exeter area and is a Service Administrator for The Vanguard Group based in Malvern PA.

Mike McNeill

Mike McNeill is returning for his fifth year serving on the visual staff of the Buccaneers. A resident of York, PA and a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, Mike pursued opportunities in music while earning his degree in biomedical science.

 

Mike entered the drum corps activity in 2008 as a euphonium player at the Jersey Surf. He would continue to perform with the Jersey Surf from 2008 to 2010. In 2011, Mike joined The Cadets where he performed until his age out in 2014, serving as the baritone section leader in 2013 and 2014.

 

Following his age out, Mike began teaching at Loyalsock Township High School in Williamsport, PA in 2014 and continues to serve as a design consultant over the past two seasons. Since joining the Buccaneers in 2015, Mike has served as the mellophone visual instructor and looks forward to another season with the visual team.

Katie McFadden

Katie McFadden is excited to be returning to the Buccaneers visual staff as a Visual Technician! Katie is currently a fifth grade teacher at Elk Neck Elementary in Cecil County, Maryland. She is a graduate of Millersville University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. While in college, Katie marched with the Millersville University Marching Band and performed with the Wind Ensemble and Concert Band.

She marched with the Reading Buccaneers from 2007-2010, 2012, and 2013. She has also taught with various marching bands since 2008 including Lancaster Catholic High School, Reading High School and North East High School.

Lydia Baranoski

Lydia Baranoski is a Junior at Penn State University. She is a Music Education major and her main instrument is the trombone. She has five years of experience marching Drum Corps which includes four years of marching Baritone at Reading Buccaneers from 2013-2016 and one year marching Baritone at Blue Knights in 2017. She also has nine years of dance experience. Lydia is extremely excited for the opportunity to come back to her family in blue and teach visual this year!

Chris Houck

Christopher (Chris) Houck is happy to return for his second season teaching at the Reading Buccaneers! He grew up in Lancaster, PA and started his marching career with Manheim Township HS. He marched with the Reading Buccaneers in 2013 & 2014 on baritone and filling a hole in 2016 & 2019 on mellophone. In 2015, he marched his age out with the Cadets, also earning the Jim Ott award for best brass. Previously, he taught at Manheim Township HS for 3 years as a visual instructor and Unionville HS for 2 years as visual instructor for their indoor percussion. Currently, Chris resides in Columbia, MD and teaches high school math in Baltimore County Public Schools.
