Mike Tanzos - Brass Caption Head
Returning for his 5th Season as Brass Caption Head in 2026, Michael Tanzos has been involved with Drum Corps for the past 16 years. Starting as a member of Reading Buccaneers in 2009, Michael went on to march in the Cadets in 2010 & 2011, winning a DCI World Championship. Following his age-out at Cadets, Michael helped start Cadets2 as the horn sergeant and trumpet section leader for the 2012 season. After his marching career, he went on to teach brass at Bushwackers, Cadets2, and the Reading Buccaneers. Michael is currently the Instrumental Director at Whitehall High School and is also an active drill designer. He graduated from Nazareth High School and earned his Bachelor's in Music Education degree from Kutztown University and his Master’s in Music Education through the University of the Arts/Rowan University.
Brand is a skilled trumpet teacher, working with many great programs across central and southeast Pennsylvania. He received a bachelor’s degree in Music Performance at West Chester University, actively playing in the greater Philadelphia Region.
He began his drum corps career with the Hawthorne Caballeros, marching there for the 2009-2012 seasons and as a soloist from 2015-2018. the 2013 and 2014 seasons with the Cadets, where he played lead trumpet, and aged out as a soloist in 2014.
Bringing over a decade in marching experience to the table, Brand is excited for another year of drum corps!
Brand Davis - Brass Caption Manager/Trumpet Music Technician
We are pleased to welcome MATT PIATEK back to the Buccaneers for 2026. A resident of Delaware County, PA, Matt studied Music Education at Penn State University, where he was a member of numerous Penn State performing ensembles, including Centre Dimensions, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble and the Penn State Blue Band. Matt began his drum corps career in 2003 as a trumpet player with Jersey Surf and continued until 2007. He joined the Phantom Regiment in 2008 remaining there until he aged out in 2011. Since aging out Matt has been on the educational team for Jersey Surf, Crossmen, Phantom Regiment and The Reading Buccaneers.
Matthew Piatek - Mellophone Music Technician
Jackson is excited to return to the Buccaneers in 2026! Jackson was a member of the Buccaneers from 2015 - 2018, and in 2024, and a member of the Santa Clara Vanguard from 2019 - 2021. He started his journey teaching drum corps with the Buccaneers in 2025.
Jackson graduated from the West Chester University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education. After spending the first four years of his career teaching elementary music, Jackson is now the Director of Bands at Pottstown High School in Pottstown, PA.

Jon Lacy - Tuba Music Technician
Jon Lacy brings nearly two decades of experience as a collaborative, student-centered music educator, performer, and arranger to the Reading Buccaneers brass staff. He’s thrilled to offer his experience and passion for excellence to the Buccaneers as the corps continues its tradition of marching arts achievement.
Based in Lancaster, PA, Jon most recently served as Brass Caption Head at Jersey Surf Drum & Bugle Corps and continues to be involved with the organization’s music education outreach endeavors. At Eastern York School District, Jon directs the middle school band and is an instructional lead for both the high school marching band and musical theater production. He holds degrees in Jazz Studies and Music Education from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.
Jon lives in Lancaster, PA, where he enjoys time with his three kids and catching anything directed by Michael Schur.
Brett Haney received his Bachelor's of Music (Music Education) from West Chester University in 2024. Currently, he is the band director at Avon Grove Middle School in West Grove, PA. Additionally, he serves as the assistant marching band director at Twin Valley High School and is a staff member for the Avon Grove High School marching band.
Brett marched in the Cadets2 Drum and Bugle Corps in 2018 on Baritone and then marched in the Reading Buccaneers in 2019 on Tuba. He is excited to return to the drum corps scene on the brass staff this season!
